Preparations for Chinese New Year usually begin a few weeks in advance,Everyone in my family gets busy cleaning the house and decorating it with red lanterns, couplets, and paper-cuttings,These decorations are believed to bring good luck and fortune for the coming year,The most exciting part of the preparation is buying new clothes,Wearing new clothes during this time symbolizes a fresh start and a new beginning.

During the Spring Festival, it is customary to pay a visit to our relatives and friends,On New Year's Eve, my family gathers for a reunion dinner,We have a sumptuous feast with various delicious dishes like dumplings, fish, spring rolls, and sticky rice cake,Eating fish is considered auspicious as it signifies an increase in prosperity,After the meal, we exchange red envelopes called "hongbao" with money inside,It is a tradition to give these envelopes to children and unmarried adults, wishing them good luck and fortune for the year ahead.

On New Year's Day, we wake up early to greet the day with joy and excitement,We often wear our new clothes and set off firecrackers to chase away evil spirits,Then, we go to the temples to pray for health, happiness, and good fortune,The atmosphere is lively and bustling, with people lighting incense sticks and offering their prayers.

One of the highlights of Chinese New Year is the lion and dragon dances,The lion dance is performed by two dancers inside a lion costume,They mimic the movements of a lion, dancing along to the beat of drums and cymbals,It is believed that the lion dance can bring good luck and ward off evil spirits,The dragon dance is performed by a team of dancers who manipulate a long, colorful dragon made of fabric and bamboo poles,It is a mesmerizing sight to watch the dragon dance through the streets, accompanied by the rhythmic music.

As a student, Chinese New Year also means a break from school,I have a lot of free time to enjoy with my family and friends,We often play traditional games like shuttlecock kicking, tug-of-war, and guessing lantern riddles,It is a time for us to relax, have fun, and create wonderful memories together.

As the festive season comes to an end, we celebrate the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the lunar calendar,This day marks the end of the Spring Festival celebrations,We light lanterns, solve riddles written on them, and eat sweet glutinous rice balls called tangyuan,It is a beautiful and joyful way to conclude the festivities.
